Clams

Method

Preparation of Clams

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Scrub the shells gently with a brush.

  2. 2

    Steam the Clams

Place the clean clams in a pot with a little water. Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open. Discard any that do not open.

Breading Process

  1. 3

    Prepare the Breading Stations

Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Bread the Clams

Take each clam, dip it in the flour to coat, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the bread crumb mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Cooking the Clams

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 6

    Fry the Clams

Carefully place the breaded clams in the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the fried clams hot with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of chopped parsley for garnish.
