Method

Prep Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Thaw the black tiger shrimp if frozen. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

Make Batter

  1. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  2. 3

    Prepare the Batter

Gradually add water to the dry mixture while whisking until the batter is smooth and has no lumps.

Fry Shrimp

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Batter the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding.

  4. 7

    Cook Until Golden

Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp are golden brown and float to the surface.

  5. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
