Seared Ahi Tuna and Slaw
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Slaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, diced mango, and chopped cilantro. In a separate bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, salt, and pepper to create the dressing. Pour the dressing over the slaw mixture and toss well to combine. Set aside to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- 2
Sear the Ahi Tuna
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Season the Ahi tuna steaks with salt and pepper on both sides. Add a little olive oil to the pan. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until the outside is golden brown and the inside is rare (or cooked to your liking). Remove from heat and let rest for a minute.
- 3
Plate the Dish
Slice the seared Ahi tuna into thin strips. On a plate, serve a portion of the slaw, arrange the sliced tuna on top, and garnish with sliced avocado and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
