Brewing Process
1. Mashing
Heat the water to around 70°C (158°F). Add the malted barley and let it steep for about 60 minutes, maintaining the temperature between 65-70°C.
2. Lautering
After mashing, separate the liquid (wort) from the grain. Sparge with hot water to extract as much sugar as possible.
3. Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding additional hops as per your recipe for bitterness, flavor, and aroma.
4. Cooling
Once boiled, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath to around 20°C (68°F).
5. Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal the vessel and let it ferment for 1-2 weeks at a controlled temperature.
6. Bottling
After fermentation, add priming sugar to the beer before bottling to carbonate. Bottle the beer and let it condition for another 1-2 weeks.
7. Enjoy
Once carbonated and conditioned, chill your draft beer and enjoy!
