Preparing the Hibiscus Basil Mixture

  1. 1

    Steep Hibiscus and Basil

In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 1 oz of dried hibiscus flowers and 10 fresh basil leaves. Allow the mixture to steep for 10-15 minutes to extract flavors.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Glass

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Pour 2 oz of Granja mezcal and 1 tsp of freshly grated ginger into the shaker.

  3. 5

    Combine with Hibiscus Basil Mixture

Add the cooled hibiscus basil mixture to the shaker with the mezcal and ginger.

  4. 6

    Shake and Strain

Shake well for about 15 seconds. Strain the mixture into a chilled glass.

Garnishing the Drink

    Add Garnish

Garnish the drink with a fresh basil leaf and an optional edible flower for decoration.
