Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Making the Cake Batter
- 3
Melt Butter and Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of unsalted butter and 8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, and 2 large egg yolks until well combined.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Stir until well combined.
- 6
Add Flour
Gently fold in 1 tbsp of all-purpose flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
Baking the Cakes
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the cake batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove from oven and let cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off. Serve immediately with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.
