Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Base

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Base

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.

  2. 8

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract to the mixture, and beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the base is completely cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top using a spatula.
