Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Catfish
In a bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together. Dip each catfish filet first in the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the cornmeal mixture until well coated.
- 2
Fry the Catfish
Heat the cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the catfish filets. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 3
Make Hushpuppies
In a separate bowl, combine the hushpuppy mix with water until well blended. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve
Plate the fried catfish filets alongside the hushpuppies. Choose two sides to accompany your dish (e.g., coleslaw, fries, or green beans). Enjoy!
