Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes while you prepare the cocktail to ensure it stays cold.

2

Combine ingredients

Add vodka, white crème de cacao, Irish cream liqueur, heavy cream, vanilla syrup, freshly grated nutmeg, and ice to a cocktail shaker. The ice should be enough to chill and slightly dilute the drink (about 1 cup).

3

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and the mixture is frothy from the cream.

4

Strain

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass using a Hawthorne strainer and, optionally, a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards for a silky texture.

Garnish

5

Dust the surface of the cocktail lightly with powdered sugar to create a 'snow' effect. Sprinkle the mini chocolate shavings or white chocolate curls in the center. If using, perch a small candy snowball or marshmallow on the rim or float gently on top.

6

Serve immediately while cold. Optionally pass a ramekin of extra powdered sugar at the table for additional dusting.
