Method
Golden Milk Base
- 1
Combine liquids
In a small saucepan, combine 1.5 cups whole milk and 0.5 cup water. Use dairy or any plant milk (almond, oat, coconut) as preferred.
- 2
Add spices
Whisk in 1.5 tsp ground turmeric, 1 tsp fresh grated ginger (or 1 tsp ground ginger), 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 pinch ground black pepper, and 1/8 tsp ground cardamom (if using) until evenly distributed.
- 3
Heat gently
Place saucepan over medium-low heat. Warm the mixture gradually until it reaches a gentle simmer (small bubbles at the edges), about 5–7 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent sticking and to bloom the spices. Do not boil vigorously.
- 4
Simmer to develop flavor
Lower heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes more, stirring occasionally. This helps the turmeric and ginger infuse the milk.
Sweetener & Finish
- 5
Sweeten and enrich
Remove the saucepan from heat. Whisk in 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp unsalted butter or coconut oil if using. Stir until fully incorporated.

Serve
Pour the turmeric latte into a medium mug (about 12–14 oz). Sprinkle a light dusting of ground cinnamon (about 1/8 tsp) on top. Serve immediately.

Storage
Leftovers can be refrigerated in a sealed container for up to 48 hours. Reheat gently on the stove over low heat, whisking to recombine; you may need to add a splash of milk if it has thickened.
