Chamomile Flower

Method

Chamomile Flower

  1. 1

    Measure and heat water

Measure 8 fl oz (about 240 ml) fresh cold water. Bring to a gentle boil, then remove from heat and let the water cool for about 30 seconds to 1 minute so it is just off the boil (around 95°C / 203°F) — ideal for chamomile to preserve delicate aromatics.

  2. 2

    Steep

Place 2 tsp dried whole chamomile flower heads into a teapot or infuser. Pour the hot water over the flowers, cover to trap the steam, and steep for 5 to 7 minutes depending on desired strength. Longer steeping gives a more pronounced floral flavor and slightly sweeter finish.

  3. 3

    Strain and sweeten

Strain the tea into a cup. Taste and add honey (1 tsp) if desired. Garnish with a lemon slice if preferred. Serve hot.

Ctrl+Alt+Del (Lemon, Ginger & Cranberry)

  1. 4

    Prepare ingredients

If using dried cranberries, lightly crush them with the back of a spoon to release flavor. If using fresh ginger, slice thinly (3 thin slices). Measure 1 tsp dried lemon peel and 1 tbsp crushed dried cranberries.

  2. 5

    Heat water

Bring 8 fl oz (240 ml) fresh water to a rolling boil (100°C / 212°F).

  3. 6

    Infuse

Place lemon peel, ginger slices, and crushed cranberries in an infuser or small teapot. Pour the boiling water over the ingredients, cover, and steep for 6 to 8 minutes. For a brighter lemon note, steep toward the lower end; for stronger ginger heat and deeper cranberry body, steep longer.

  4. 7

    Strain and sweeten

Strain into a cup. Stir in maple syrup or sugar (1 tsp) to taste if desired. Serve hot. For an iced variation, let cool to room temperature, refrigerate until cold, then pour over ice.

Harvest Mint (Peppermint Leaf & Flower)

  1. 8

    Heat water gently

Measure 8 fl oz (240 ml) fresh water and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat just as it reaches a gentle boil — about 95°C / 203°F — to avoid burning the delicate peppermint oils.

  2. 9

    Steep mint

Place 1.5 tsp dried peppermint leaf and flowers in an infuser or teapot. Pour the hot water over the leaves, cover, and steep for 4 to 6 minutes depending on desired intensity (shorter for lighter, longer for bold mint flavor).

  3. 10

    Finish

Strain into a cup. Sweeten with sugar or honey (1 tsp) if desired and garnish with a fresh mint sprig. Serve hot or allow to cool and serve over ice for a refreshing beverage.
