Method
Brew coffee
- 1
Brew
Brew 8 fl oz of hot coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, French press). Use a slightly stronger ratio if you prefer a bolder flavor for the Caffè Misto. Aim for 195–205°F (90–96°C) extraction temperature.
- 2
While coffee brews, preheat your serving cup by rinsing it with hot water to keep the drink warm.
Heat and froth milk
- 3
Heat
Measure 4 fl oz (about 1/2 cup) of 2% milk. Heat the milk to 140–150°F (60–65°C). You can do this on the stovetop in a small saucepan over medium-low heat or in the microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between bursts.
- 4
Froth
Froth the heated milk to create a light layer of microfoam. Use a milk frother, handheld electric whisk, French press (pump 10–15 times), or steam wand. Aim for a velvety texture with small bubbles, not heavy foam.
Assemble
- 5
Pour the 8 fl oz of brewed coffee into the preheated 12 oz serving cup, leaving space for the milk.
- 6
- 7
If using, stir in up to 1 tsp granulated sugar or preferred sweetener to taste. For vanilla variation, stir in 1/8 tsp vanilla extract before pouring the milk.
- 8
Optionally dust the top with a light pinch (about 1/4 tsp) of ground cinnamon.
Serve
- 9
Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy with a spoon if you prefer to mix foam into the drink.
