Optional Extras
Method
Prepare Base
- 1
Stir together the plain Greek yogurt and vanilla Greek yogurt in a medium bowl until smooth and uniform. This yields a balanced base with tang and a hint of sweetness.
- 2
Prepare Fruit Toppings
- 3
Wash and dry the strawberries and blueberries. Hull and quarter strawberries; slice the banana just before assembling so it doesn't brown.
- 4
If using berry compote as a topping, warm it gently in a small saucepan or microwave for 10–15 seconds until pourable but not hot.
Toast & Measure Crunch
- 5
If almonds are not toasted, heat a small dry skillet over medium heat and toast chopped almonds for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly browned. Cool slightly.
- 6
Measure granola and chia seeds into small bowls for easy assembly.
Assemble Yogurt Cup
- 7
- 8
Add fruit
Top each portion with your choice of up to three fruit toppings (for example: 1/4 cup strawberries, 2 tablespoons blueberries, and 4–6 banana slices per cup). Distribute fruit evenly between servings.
- 9
Add crunch & mix-ins
Sprinkle your chosen crunch elements: for example, 2 tablespoons granola and 1 tablespoon chopped toasted almonds per cup, plus a teaspoon of chia seeds if desired.
- 10
Drizzle & finish
Drizzle 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (or 1–2 tablespoons warmed berry compote) over each cup to taste. Finish with optional extras such as 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest, a few cocoa nibs, and a mint leaf.
Serve & Store
- 11
Serve immediately so granola stays crunchy. If you need to prepare ahead, keep yogurt and wet toppings chilled in the refrigerator and store granola separately; assemble within 2–4 hours for best texture.
- 12
Leftover assembled cups can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but expect some softening of granola and fruit juices to mix into the yogurt.
