Build the cocktail
Fill a rocks glass (old-fashioned glass) about three-quarters full with ice. Pour in 1 oz Campari and 1 oz sweet (rosso) vermouth over the ice.

Top with soda
Gently top the mixture with approximately 2 oz (about 60 ml) chilled soda water. Pour slowly to preserve some effervescence and avoid over-diluting.

Stir gently
Using a bar spoon, give the drink 2–3 gentle turns to combine Campari, vermouth, and soda without flattening the carbonation.

Garnish and finish
Express the oils of an orange twist over the glass by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick pinch, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it (or place a thin orange slice) into the drink. Serve immediately.
