Pasta and Sauce
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti, rigatoni, or gnocchi and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta cooking water.
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, making sure not to burn it.
- 3
Add Tomatoes
Pour in the canned tomatoes, breaking them apart with a spoon. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- 4
Season the Sauce
Stir in the chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta cooking water to reach your desired consistency.
- 5
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and additional fresh basil if desired.
