Panna Cotta Base

Method

Panna Cotta Preparation

  1. 1

    Bloom the Gelatin

In a small bowl, combine the gelatin powder with 3 tablespoons of water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes thick and gelatinous.

  2. 2

    Heat Cream Mixture

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.

  3. 3

    Add Vanilla and Gelatin

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.

  4. 4

    Pour and Chill

Pour the mixture into individual serving cups or ramekins. Allow them to cool to room temperature before covering with plastic wrap and refrigerating for at least 4 hours or until set.

Berry Sauce Preparation (optional)

  1. 5

    Prepare the Berry Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring gently until the berries break down and the mixture thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 6

    Cool the Sauce

Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool. You can strain it for a smoother texture if desired.
