Method
Preparing the Pulled Pork
- 1
Sear the Pork
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Sear the pork on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- 2
Prepare the Slow Cooker
Place the seared pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and cumin.
- 3
Cook the Pork
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Shred the pork using two forks and return it to the slow cooker. Stir in the BBQ sauce.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 5
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is cooking, lightly toast the burger buns if desired.
- 6
Build the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each bun, place a generous amount of pulled pork. Top with coleslaw and pickles. Close with the top half of the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy your delicious pulled pork sandwich!
