Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Chill Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 4

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Cook Patties

Place the chilled patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

After flipping, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into thick slices and wash the lettuce leaves.

  2. 8

    Toast Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 9

    Assemble Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place some lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
