Calzone Ingredients

Method

Calzone Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to form a large circle, about 12 inches in diameter.

  2. 2

    Add Filling

On one half of the dough, spread the tomato sauce, leaving about an inch from the edge. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and crumbled sausage on top of the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil.

  3. 3

    Fold and Seal

Carefully fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal, then crimp the edges with a fork to ensure it’s tightly closed.

  4. 4

    Bake

Brush the top of the calzone with olive oil for a golden finish. Cut a few small slits in the top to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the calzone is golden brown.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve with additional tomato sauce on the side for dipping.
