Mushroom Preparation

Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté Aromatics

Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter is melted and bubbling. Add the chopped shallots and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened and translucent.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Thyme

Stir in the minced garlic and fresh thyme. Cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Cook the Mushrooms

Add the cleaned and sliced wild mushrooms to the skillet. Stir to coat them in the oil and aromatics. Cook over medium-high heat for 7–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms have released their moisture and are golden brown.

  4. 4

    Season

Season the mushrooms with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes.

Finish & Garnish

  1. 5

    Creamy Option

If desired, add the heavy cream and stir to coat the mushrooms. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  2. 6

    Add Garnishes

Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the chopped parsley and optional lemon juice for brightness. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if using.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve the wild mushrooms warm as a side dish, or over toast, polenta, pasta, or risotto.
