Pizza Dough

Method

Pizza Dough

  1. 1

    Activate yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Prepare dough

In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let dough rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

BBQ Chicken Topping

  1. 5

    Prepare chicken

In a bowl, mix shredded chicken with 1/2 cup BBQ sauce until evenly coated.

  2. 6

    Slice onions

Thinly slice red onion and set aside.

  3. 7

    Chop cilantro

Rinse and chop fresh cilantro and set aside for garnish.

Cheese and Assembly

  1. 8

    Preheat oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.

  2. 9

    Shape dough

Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface. Transfer to a cornmeal-dusted pizza peel or baking sheet.

  3. 10

    Add sauce and toppings

Spread 1/4 cup BBQ sauce over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella. Top with BBQ chicken and sliced red onions.

  4. 11

    Bake pizza

Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbling.

  5. 12

    Finish and serve

Remove pizza from oven, brush crust with olive oil, and sprinkle with chopped cilantro. Slice and serve hot.
