Gaku Buns Ingredients
Method
Gaku Buns Directions
Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
In a skillet, cook ground pork over medium heat until browned. Add soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Stir well and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
Assemble the Buns
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 4 inches in diameter. Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle, then fold and pinch the edges to seal.
Steam the Buns
Place the buns in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
Serve
Serve the Gaku Buns warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
