Method
Beef Patty Preparation
- 1
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.
- 2
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, approximately 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Bun Preparation
- 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- 4
- 5
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 6
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 7
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the risen dough and divide into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a bun and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 8
Cover the buns and let rise for another 30 minutes. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool.
Cooking the Beef Patty
- 9
- 10
Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the desired doneness is reached.
Assembling the Hamburger

Slice the baked buns in half. On the bottom half, layer with shredded lettuce, a beef patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles.
