Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty that is about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing while cooking.

  3. 3

    Chill Patties

Refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 4

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 5

    Cook Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, adding a slice of cheddar cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt.

  3. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature is at least 160°F for safety.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.

  3. 9

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
