Method

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Stir in warm water gradually until a soft dough forms.

Knead briefly on a floured surface until smooth, about 2 minutes.

Divide dough into 6 equal portions and roll each into a ball.

Roll out each ball into a round about 6-7 inches in diameter.

Fry dough rounds one at a time until golden and puffed, about 1–2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and no pink remains, about 6–8 minutes.

Drain excess fat from the skillet.

Stir in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Pour in water and simmer for 3–5 minutes until the mixture is lightly thickened.

Place a warm fry bread on a plate.

Top with a portion of the beef filling.

Sprinkle with shredded cheese and lettuce.
