Method

Base Preparation

1

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted unsalted butter. Whisk until combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5

Bake the Base

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool

Once done, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

7

Beat Butter

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy using an electric mixer.

8

Add Sugar and Cream

Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat on high for about 3 minutes until fluffy.

9

Check Consistency

If the frosting is too thick, add a bit more cream. If too thin, add more powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached.

Assembly

10

Layer the Cakes

Place one cake layer on a serving platter. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top, then place the second cake layer on top.

11

Frost the Exterior

Use the remaining frosting to cover the top and sides of the cake evenly.

12

Add Toppings

Top the cake with fresh berries and chocolate shavings for decoration.
