Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk (about 110°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- 3
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 4
Prepare Filling
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
Candied Bacon Preparation
- 5
Cook Bacon
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lay bacon strips on a baking sheet. Brush with maple syrup and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until crispy and caramelized. Let cool and chop into small pieces.
Assembly and Frying
- 6
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 7
Add Filling
Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the rolled-out dough. Roll up the dough tightly into a log and cut into 1-inch slices.
- 8
Heat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 9
Fry Cinnamon Rolls
Carefully place a few rolls in the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Topping Preparation
- 10
Make Glaze
In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Serving
- 11
