Method

Fried Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine chicken pieces and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Flour Mixture

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Dredge and Fry

Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coat. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken pieces in batches for about 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Belgian Waffles

  1. 4

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

  2. 5

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.

  3. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

  4. 7

    Cook Waffles

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.

Honey Butter

  1. 8

    Make Honey Butter

In a small bowl, mix softened butter and honey until well combined and smooth.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Place a piece of fried chicken on top of a waffle. Drizzle with honey butter and maple syrup. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
