Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Collard Greens

Rinse the collard greens thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Remove the tough stems and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Chop Vegetables

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. Peel and chop the onion into small pieces.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add Collard Greens

Add the prepared collard greens to the skillet and stir to combine with the onion and garlic mixture.

  3. 5

    Season and Cook

Pour in the vegetable broth and sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and cover the skillet. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the collard greens are tender.

  4. 6

    Finish with Butter

Once the collard greens are tender, remove the lid and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir until the butter is melted and well incorporated. Adjust seasoning to taste.
