Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Seafood

Rinse the oysters, shrimp, and catfish fillets under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Coat the Seafood

Dip each piece of seafood into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring even coating.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Seafood

Carefully add the coated oysters, shrimp, and catfish to the hot oil. Fry in batches until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes for shrimp and oysters, and 4-5 minutes for catfish).

  6. 6

    Cook the Fries

In the same oil, fry the french fries according to package instructions or until crispy and golden.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the seafood and fries from the oil, drain on paper towels, and serve hot with marinara and tartar sauce.
