Prepare the Fish
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Fish
Carefully place the coated catfish fillets in the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Cook the Fries
While the fish is frying, cook the frozen french fries according to the package instructions until crispy.

Plate the fried catfish fillets alongside a portion of crispy fries. Serve with cajun tartar sauce for dipping.
