Fried Oysters

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dredging Station

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. In another shallow dish, pour the buttermilk.

  2. 2

    Dredge the Oysters

Dip each oyster first into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour-cornmeal mixture. Ensure oysters are evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully add oysters to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot with spicy creole sauce on the side.
