Method
Preparing the Patties
- 1
Form the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and divide the mixture into two equal portions. Form each portion into a patty, making them slightly larger than the burger buns as they will shrink while cooking.
- 2
Cook the Patties
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the cooking surface. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
Assembling the Burger
- 3
Toast the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on a separate skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 4
Build the Burger
Spread 1 tablespoon of yellow mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place one cheesy patty on each bun followed by a few slices of onion and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
