Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to create fries.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
- 3
Drain and Dry
After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the fries in batches to the hot oil, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
- 6
Season the Fries
Once the fries are cooked, remove them from the oil, place them on paper towels to drain, and season immediately with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
