Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling your martini glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of premium vodka and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the shaker with ice cubes (about 1 cup) to ensure that the mixture is well chilled.

  4. 4

    Shake or Stir

You can either shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds or stir it gently for about 30 seconds, depending on your preference for a shaken or stirred martini.

  5. 5

    Strain into Glass

Discard the ice water from your chilled martini glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass using a fine mesh strainer.

Garnishing

  1. 6

    Add Garnish

Garnish the martini with 1 olive and a lemon twist. To create the twist, use a vegetable peeler to slice a thin strip of lemon peel, then twist it over the drink to release its oils before placing it in the glass.
