Sandwich Components

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the onion thinly and the tomato into slices. Rinse and pat dry the lettuce leaves. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Grill the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once heated, add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 3

    Layer the Deli Meats

Slice the hoagie rolls in half and lay them open. Layer the Genoa salami, capicola, and mortadella evenly across each roll.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese and Onions

Place provolone cheese slices on top of the deli meats, followed by the sautéed onions.

  3. 5

    Add Fresh Ingredients

Top with fresh lettuce leaves and tomato slices.

  4. 6

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the sandwich fillings.

Grilling the Sandwich

  1. 7

    Grill the Sandwich

Preheat a grill or panini press. Place the assembled sandwiches on the grill and press down gently. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
