Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips into a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the temperature is accurate.
- 4
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.
- 6
Drain and Season
Once fried, remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika while they are still hot.
Serving
- 7
Serve Hot
Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy them plain or with your favorite dipping sauces.
