Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Duck

Rinse the duck legs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season with salt, black pepper, and five-spice powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Peel and chop the carrots and potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Layer Ingredients in Clay Pot

In a clay pot, layer the chopped carrots, potatoes, onion, and garlic at the bottom. Place the seasoned duck legs on top of the vegetables.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, chicken broth, honey, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the sauce evenly over the duck and vegetables in the clay pot.

  3. 5

    Cook the Dish

Cover the clay pot with its lid and place it in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C). Let it cook slowly for 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the duck is tender and the vegetables are soft.

  1. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, carefully remove the clay pot from the oven. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
