Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked, gently place them into the simmering marinara sauce. Allow them to simmer together for an additional 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare the Rolls

While the meatballs are simmering, prepare the baked rolls. Optionally, you can warm them in the oven for a few minutes.

  2. 8

    Serve the Meatball Bar

Set up the meatball bar with a serving platter of meatballs in marinara sauce, sliced provolone cheese, grated Romano cheese in a shaker, and the baked rolls. Allow guests to assemble their own meatball sandwiches.
