Meatballs and Sauce

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Meatballs

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a giant meatball.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.

  4. 4

    Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Add chopped fresh basil and return the meatballs to the skillet. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Whipped Ricotta

In a bowl, whisk the ricotta cheese until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

Place the meatballs on a plate, top with tomato basil sauce, and dollop with whipped ricotta. Garnish with additional basil if desired.
