Sandwich Assembly
Method
Preparing the Pulled Pork
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's well coated.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water around the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Using two forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 4
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is cooking, you can prepare the hamburger buns. Lightly toast them if desired.
- 5
Build the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each bun, add a generous portion of the pulled pork. Top with coleslaw and drizzle BBQ sauce over the top. Place the top half of the bun to complete the sandwich.
- 6
Serve
Serve the pulled pork sandwiches immediately while warm, with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
