Fried Pickles

Method

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Slice the kosher dill pickles into thin chips and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dredge the Pickles

Dip each pickle chip into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickle chips into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Make the Jalapeño Ranch

Finely chop the jalapeño pepper and mix it into the ranch dressing.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with the jalapeño ranch for dipping.
