Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the sushi grade tuna into small, uniform cubes, roughly 1/2 inch in size. Ensure your knife is clean and dry to maintain the quality of the fish.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Slice the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out into a bowl. Mash it gently with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture. Season it with a pinch of salt and lime juice to prevent browning.

  3. 3

    Mix the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice until well combined. This will serve as the dressing for the tuna.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a larger bowl, add the diced tuna, chopped chives or green onions, and the dressing prepared earlier. Gently toss to combine without breaking the tuna cubes.

  2. 5

    Plate the Tartare

On a serving plate, create a base layer with the mashed avocado. Then, carefully spoon the tuna mixture on top of the avocado layer.

  3. 6

    Add Garnishes

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the tuna tartare. Add a dollop of wasabi on the side and serve with tortilla chips or wonton crisps for scooping.
