Method
Prepare Oysters
- 1
Shuck the Oysters
Using a proper oyster knife, carefully insert the blade into the hinge of each oyster and twist to open. Remove the top shell and carefully slide the knife underneath the oyster to detach it from the shell, leaving it in the bottom shell.

Arrange on Ice
Place the freshly shucked oysters on a platter filled with crushed ice to keep them chilled and fresh until serving.
Prepare Cocktail Sauce

Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- 4
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the heat by adding more hot sauce if desired. Set aside until ready to serve.
Serve
- 5
Plating
Serve the oysters with the cocktail sauce on the side, garnished with lemon wedges if desired.
