Method
Preparing the Oysters
- 1
Clean the Oysters
Rinse the Cape Cod Oysters under cold running water to remove any dirt and debris. Scrub the shells gently with a brush if necessary.
- 2
Shuck the Oysters
Using an oyster knife, carefully shuck each oyster by inserting the knife into the hinge of the shell. Twist the knife to pop the shell open, then slide the knife along the inside of the top shell to detach the muscle.
- 3
Arrange on Ice
Place the shucked oysters on a plate or tray filled with crushed ice to keep them cold.
Making the Cocktail Sauce
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 5
Adjust Flavor
Taste the cocktail sauce and add hot sauce to your preference for heat. Mix again to combine.
Serving
- 6
