Cook the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and diced carrot. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.

Add the Lamb
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground lamb to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Season and Add Broth
Stir in the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour in the beef or lamb broth and bring to a simmer. Add the frozen peas and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Pie
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, layer the lamb filling evenly at the bottom. Spread the mashed potatoes over the filling, smoothing them out with a spatula.

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
