Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Juicing the Lemons

Cut the lemons in half and use a citrus juicer or reamer to extract the juice into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp.

  2. 2

    Dissolving Sugar

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Combining Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup (from the saucepan), and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to mix.

  2. 4

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar or water as needed. If desired, add a handful of mint leaves for extra flavor.

Serving

  1. 5

    Chilling

Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to chill. Serve over ice cubes in glasses.

  2. 6

    Garnishing

Garnish each glass with a sprig of mint and a lemon slice, if desired.
