Method
For the Fried Pickles
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Set Up the Breading Station
In a medium bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
Bread the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the breaded pickles to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
For the Ranch Dressing
Mix the Dressing Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the ranch dressing and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and black pepper if needed.
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
