Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lingonberries

If using fresh lingonberries, wash them thoroughly under cold water. If using frozen, allow them to thaw at room temperature for a few hours or in the refrigerator overnight.

  2. 2

    Make the Lingonberry Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine the prepared lingonberries and water. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Mixture

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the lingonberries have softened and released their juices.

  4. 4

    Strain the Mixture

After simmering, use a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the mixture into a large bowl, pressing down on the berries to extract as much liquid as possible.

  5. 5

    Sweeten the Lingonberry Juice

Pour the strained liquid back into the saucepan. Add sugar and lemon juice, and stir over low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  6. 6

    Cool the Mixture

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Then, chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Lingonberry-ade

Once chilled, pour the lingonberry juice over ice in glasses. Garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
