Potatoes
Ketchup Mayonnaise Dip
Method
Preparing the Potatoes
- 1
Peeling and Cutting
Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly. Peel them using a vegetable peeler, then cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Frying the Potatoes
- 3
Heating the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature by dropping a small piece of potato into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
- 4
Frying
Remove the soaked potatoes from the water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Carefully add a handful of potatoes to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 5
Seasoning
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste.
Preparing the Ketchup Mayonnaise Dip
- 6
Mixing the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir well until all the ingredients are fully blended.
- 7
Serving
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and place it alongside the French fried potatoes for dipping.
